What is the Commemoration of the Twenty-Six Martyrs of Japan?

The Japan Twenty-Six Martyrs Memorial Gathering is held in remembrance of the martyrdom of the Twenty-Six Martyrs of Japan, who were martyred in Nagasaki on February 5, 1597 (December 19, Keichō 1) by the order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. This martyrdom is not only a significant event in the history of Christianity in Japan, but also one from which we can learn much through their faith.

Although we are a Protestant church, we have been deeply moved by the journey of the Twenty-Six Martyrs of Japan. With a desire to prepare for the times ahead by following in their footsteps, we have continued to hold this memorial gathering on this day. We sincerely hope that you will join us in praising God together and in taking time to listen to the Word of God.

The gathering will be held at Nishizaka Park. Everyone is welcome to attend. We warmly invite you to join us.
